Painting your front doors this season? Consider this finish and color trick from color expert and designer, Ann Pailthorp. "One of my favorite tricks when it comes to selecting colors for front doors is to select a color that is a nod to a color you will find inside of the home.
This creates a connective thread between your interior and exterior color scheme and acts as an introduction to the colors visitors will see when they enter your home.
Equally important for creating the look and feel you are after is the finish you select.Aura Exterior in a Satinfinish on a front door has a slightly knocked-back casual feel while Aura Exterior in a Semi-Gloss adds a feeling of formality to the home. Perhaps one of my favorite decorating tricks is to use Aura Exterior Semi-Gloss on a front door with Aura Exterior Satin on any side or garage doors in the exact same color. In terms of the color scheme, this creates a sense of flow and helps with way finding but the change in sheen adds just a bit more prominence to the front door."
